A2AJ MCP Server — Canadian Legal Research in Claude

# A2AJ MCP Server — Canadian Legal Research in Claude

We're excited to release the A2AJ MCP server, bringing Canadian legal research directly into AI assistants like Claude through the Model Context Protocol.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that allows AI assistants to connect to external data sources. With the A2AJ MCP server, you can ask Claude questions about Canadian law and receive answers grounded in actual case law and legislation from our datasets.

Getting Started with Claude

In claude.ai, go to Search and ToolsManage ConnectorsAdd Custom Connector → set the URL to:

https://mcp.a2aj.ca/mcp

Start a new chat and ask anything about Canadian law — no code required. For example:

  • "What are the leading Supreme Court cases on Section 7 of the Charter?"
  • "Find recent Immigration and Refugee Board decisions about country conditions in Venezuela"
  • "What does the Competition Act say about price fixing?"

Claude will search our dataset of 116,000+ court decisions and 5,000+ statutes and provide answers with proper citations.

Works with ChatGPT Too

The A2AJ MCP server also works with OpenAI's API. See our Data page for setup instructions and code examples.

Why This Matters

Traditional legal research requires navigating multiple databases, learning complex search syntax, and sifting through hundreds of results. MCP integration brings natural language querying to legal research, making it accessible to:

  • Self-represented litigants researching their own cases
  • Students learning legal research skills
  • Journalists investigating legal issues
  • Community organizations advising clients
  • Anyone curious about Canadian law

Privacy and Limitations

The MCP server only accesses publicly available legal documents — court decisions that are already published and legislation that is public by nature. No private or privileged information is included.

We always recommend verifying AI-generated legal information against primary sources, especially for important legal matters.
